Our normal interventions

As an activity that we can define normal for our foundation, we must remember that at the beginning of each school year we try to provide uniforms (whic is mandatory) shoes and school supplies at least to the poorest of the students who attend our school.

Every year in January, is also organised a medical day. This is a medical tour for the children to control especially teeth, testing of blood and possibly parasites. This year we are in fact a lot of issues from anemia and parasites. The volunteers medical staff that performs free day is made ​​up of a dozen of medical students and three or four general practitioners and they also provide free medicines.


 

Two children of Haitian nationality, who thanks to the work of their father in the Dominican Republic, and with the help of our Foundation, they have the opportunity to study in their country in a highly recognized international school, giving them the opportunity to stay in their country and not have to emigrate like his father. As you can see the cost of registration is very high but his father only earns a salary of approximately $ 300 per month.

Loma los Pinos foundation joined forces this year with neurologist Dr. Pedro Roa, MD, who is constantly working in the Dominican Republic with a rare disease called PKAN (Panthotenate Kinase Associated Neurodegeneration).

Widelfry Lendof with 5 years old has diagnosed bilateral femoral and internal tibial torsion.

He will be operated in the "Asociación Dominicana de Rehabilitación (ADR)".

Los Pinos Foundation, and the FUJAVIC have joined forces once again for the restoration project of the Social Club of the Area in Navarrete. This is a property that is currently in a really poor condition which they would restore to have it available for the benefit of the community.

The girl called Ashly soufers an illness called Nephrotic syndrome.

Los Pinos Foundation and FUVAJIC through their partnership, have in project reuse of windmills for pumping water for a reforestation project in Navarrete.

A child less than 2 years old weighing less than 20 pounds was born on a hill in the Central Mountain Range where the work possibilities for his parents who have 13 children are almost nil.We took Eduardo to a clinic in Santo Domingo where a pediatrician specialist in nutrition, after less than three months with a balanced diet and recovered all the weight lost.

It is a 15-year-old girl who, due to a childhood illness, is in a wheelchair, living in a very small house where she could not even move. His parents, with the help of our Foundation, managed to build a bigger house with more space.

Adelin Echavarria is a 20 year old Young man, who was diagnosed with bilateral keratoconus. This is a disease that affects the cornea in the eye, and in his particular case it is so severe that he had to quit going to school. Thanks to Loma Los Pinos foundation he was operated on his left eye on march 3 rd to slow progression of the disease. For his right eye he already needs a corneal transplant, which is scheduled to happen in april this year.

At this moment Adelin needed a left corneal transplant, which was scheduled to happen in April 2017, but as of now and thanks to our collaborators, he already has his new cornea and the surgery was a total success!

This family lives in Navarrete , where the inhospitable conditions make it very difficult to thrive, here lives this couple how we call "Los Viejitos". The Foundations have joined forces to build them a new house.
