Details of the cause

After finding a construction of bamboo and tin roof full of holes that housed 24 students from different courses and one teacher decided to find the funds to realize our dream. Galimberti Giacomo headed to our fellow citizens in Switzerland formed an association called www.villaltagracia.ch raising funds from many people interested in helping us fulfill this dream. With great surprise we received funds from different people including people who never visited the DR and most do not even know where is the community of Villa Altagracia Blade Dairy and place that is the school's Juliana. It also received support from the community and around two years completed a 3-classroom school roof specifically to serve as a refuge for the community in case of disasters.

According to statistics from the National Statistics Office (NSO), in the 2007-2008 school year the enrollment rate in primary education was 84.3% of the population aged 6 to 13 years of age. The Ministry of Education estimates that in 2015 the enrollment rate would be above 96%, and in 2019 is projected to reach 100%.

Motivation

During the work of Daniel travel to different communities territory of the Dominican Republic watching hundreds of children walk for miles to get an education and meet local paupers without not even roof and bathrooms for your needs, this will cause together with a friend Swiss national who frequently visits the DR to try to improve the conditions in which these children receive the bread of education in appropriate places sacrifice they make every day.

Before and after

Initial Condition

Local made of bamboo in very poor condition, outdoor bath, without divisions, flat on the ground, roof holes. It became a serious problem when it rained.

Process

Current Condition

Built 4 classrooms specifically 2 bathrooms with running water, the Foundation is concerned with the complete maintenance of the school, such as painting, arrangement or replacing windows and doors, and the payment of a Concierge.

Medical Day

The Foundation is responsible for making medical days for school students.
